Poker If you know anything about poker, you have surely heard of Daniel Negreanu.  Negreanu is one of the top poker players in the world and he is stiff competition both online and in live poker tournaments.  That is why it was no surprised when he was named WSOP Player of the Year.  This is the second time that Negreanu has received the honor.  To cap off that honor, Negreanu also won his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet.

Shortly after the announcement of his winning of the WSOP Player of the Year honor, he received congratulations from fellow big names in the game.  In the past, those messages would have come by phone, email or text message.  Now the messages come from Twitter.  This marks the second time that the honors have gone to Negreanu after his first Player of the Year win in 2004.

The newly minted Player of the Year quickly proved why he received the honor by winning the Euro 25,000 buy-in World Series of Poker High Roller Event.   The field at the final table contained some of the top names in the game today including Tim Adams from Canada, Philipp Gruissem from Germany, Brazil’s Nicolau Villa-Lobo and Americans Erik Seidel, Jason Koon, David Peters and Scott Seiver.

In the end, it came down to Negreanu and Villa-Lobo.  Villa-Lobo took home a respectable   Euro 450,000 for second place after battling head to head with Negreanu for over an hour.  The first place finish earned Negreanu Euro 750,000 and another World Series of Poker bracelet.
